The heart of a peristaltic pump requires flexibility
Hose pumps, also known as peristaltic pumps, are excellent for moving a wide variety of fluids efficiently and with a great dosing accuracy. They are particularly suited for viscous, abrasive and shear sensitive liquids. Since the pump wear is concentrated on the hose, the hose is the most essential part of the pump.
Heart of a peristaltic pump
The hose is the key and single most vital component for the performance, durability and efficiency of a hose pump. With more then 40 years on hand experience with peristaltic and hose pump solutions, Albin Pump have developed a superior hose range providing a better service life.
Albins range of hoses have a better service life due to three technical reasons
- Better quality rubber
- Better shimming strategy
- Better rubber quality selection

Albin Hoses are made of the best available quality rubber to have the best abrasion resistance. Where some competitors machine their hoses to get a 0.3mm tolerance of their wall thickness, Albin Hoses are vulcanised, with a 0.5mm tolerance on their wall thickness giving them the best abrasion resistance.
Albin Pump’s natural rubber hose uses the same quality rubber for the entire thickness of the hose while the competition use different types of rubber increasing the chance of delaminating between the reinforced lays reducing their life.
Being that their hoses are unmachined, Albin hoses lubricant has a better grip on the hose, causing less friction and heat built up between the shoe and the hose. Which results in a better hose life of up to 40% more then other brands.

How does a peristaltic pump work?
A peristaltic pump operates by compressing a spot along a length of flexible hose (hence also known as a ”hose pump”), then moving that spot towards the outlet to push the fluid inside the tube in that direction. This compressing or squeezing action is created by a roller or shoe. Where multiple squeeze points are presented, it creates a situation where the fluid cannot return.

Flexibility makes for an ideal installation
Selection of the hose material is an important factor to consider when selecting a hose. At Albin, hoses are available in a number of materials including NR, NBR, EPDM, CSM, FKM and other food grade materials. With multiple options allows solutions for most pumping requirements in industry.

Another key factor is interchangeability - Albin hoses fit most brands of hose pumps. They make hoses of specific lengths to fit the major manufacturers including Bredel, Verderflex and King Cobra (Blackmer which part of the Pump Solutions Group the same group as Wilden). Different part numbers apply to hoses of differing lengths and these can be ordered direct from Kelair.
